Privacy notice

Draft: pending legal review. This page says what is true today in plain words. The notice kept with the project (docs/PRIVACY.md) is also a draft. The owner will replace both after a lawyer has reviewed them.

The Radarx account

Radarx asks you to create a free account the first time you start it. The account collects:

  • your name, your e-mail address and your affiliation (a university, agency or company, or “Independent”);
  • what you mostly use Radarx for, as you enter it;
  • a password, which is stored only as a salted hash by the sign-in provider (Supabase), or the identity returned by Google, Apple or Facebook if you choose one of those;
  • a random device id, with the name, platform and Radarx version of each computer you sign in from, and when it was last used;
  • short feature-level activity records: which kinds of function are used, for example that a file was opened or an algorithm was run.

What stays on your computer

Your radar files never leave your computer. Neither do your results or the content of your work.

Why, and who processes it

To let you sign in on several computers, to keep what you choose to sync, to understand which communities use Radarx and which features matter, and to contact you about your account. Personal data is not sold and is not shown to other users. The account and sign-in are processed by Supabase (database and sign-in, region Mumbai) and, if you choose them, by Google, Apple or Facebook as sign-in providers.

Your choices

In the app, open Account to edit your details, remove computers, or delete the account; deleting the account removes the account data listed above. After you have signed in, Radarx works for up to 30 days without contacting the server. For anything else, use the contact address at the bottom of this page once it is published.

Reports sent from this website

The page Report an issue lets anyone send a report without an account, once the project owner has switched it on. A report contains what you type in the form: the kind (something is wrong, an idea or a question), a title and a description. It also contains, only if you fill them in, an e-mail address, the Radarx version and a short description of your computer. Nothing else is read from your computer: no files, no radar data. If you came from the app, the version and computer fields can be filled in for you from the link; you can change or empty them before sending.

  • Who sees it: the project owner and the people the owner lets work on reports. Reports are not published and not sold. Do not put private data in the text.
  • Your e-mail address is used only to answer this report, and only if you filled it in. Leave it empty to stay anonymous.
  • Where it is stored: in the same Supabase project as the Radarx accounts (see above), reached through a small service that checks the report before it is saved.
  • How long: the retention period has not been decided yet. This is a draft; the owner will state the period here after the legal review. Until then reports are kept. If you write to the project owner about a report, quote the report number shown after sending.
  • Abuse protection: the service may count how often one connection sends reports, to stop floods. The exact data used for this is to be confirmed against the service before launch.

The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a robot check that runs in your browser: only on the Report an issue page, and only when the form is switched on, your browser loads a script from challenges.cloudflare.com and runs a short challenge there (Cloudflare sees your IP address and browser details, as with any web request, and processes the challenge in your browser). The result is sent with your report and checked with Cloudflare by the report service. Cloudflare has its own privacy policy for this.

This website

This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads no fonts from other companies. Three things contact another company, and only for the feature they serve: the download list asks GitHub for the public list of releases when the page opens (GitHub sees your IP address, as with any web request); a film is loaded from YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) only after you press its play button; and the Report an issue page loads the Cloudflare Turnstile robot check as described above. The rest of the site loads nothing from other companies. Your choice of light or dark theme is kept in your browser's local storage and never sent anywhere.
